How many invitations did Alberta issue between Oct. 9 and Oct. 20, 2026?

This update is part of the Express Entry draws hub, with the Express Entry guide. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program issued no fewer than 562 invitations to apply for provincial nomination across five selection rounds from Oct. 9 through Oct. 20, 2026.

All but one of those draws were aligned with Express Entry. Recipients may apply to the province for nomination and, if approved, move on to a federal permanent residence application.

Which streams ran and what were the cutoff scores?

On Oct. 9, the Alberta Express Entry Stream Priority Sectors health care draw sent 97 invitations with a minimum score of 60.

On Oct. 13, the Dedicated Health Care Pathway Express Entry draw sent 53 invitations with a minimum score of 57.

On Oct. 14, the Tourism and Hospitality Stream draw sent 25 invitations with a minimum score of 73, the fewest invitations in that category in any 2026 round.

On Oct. 16, the Alberta Express Entry Stream Law Enforcement Pathway draw sent 49 invitations.

On Oct. 20, the Alberta Express Entry Stream Priority Sectors general draw sent 386 invitations with a minimum score of 60. That was the highest invitation count and the lowest cutoff for that selection type in 2026.

What does 88.3 percent of Alberta's annual allocation mean?

As of Oct. 21, 2026, Alberta had issued 5,831 provincial nominations, about 88.3 percent of its 6,603 nominations for the year.

The province originally had 6,403 spaces from Ottawa for 2026 and added 200 in early August 2026. Allocation caps how many people Alberta may nominate in a year; that is separate from how many invitations it sends in each draw.

Beyond the regular cap, Alberta also nominated 50 practice ready physicians and 12 francophone candidates using supplementary spaces. By Oct. 21 the AAIP had run 89 selection rounds in 2026 and invited no fewer than 14,127 candidates in total.

What can invited workers do about work permits and permanent residence?

Invited candidates may submit AAIP applications for provincial nomination. Approved applicants receive nomination certificates and may file federal permanent residence applications.

Provincial nominees in Canada may qualify for a bridging open work permit after they submit a permanent residence application. Eligible Tourism and Hospitality Stream nominees may get earlier access to that permit under a temporary federal measure that took effect June 9, 2026.

If you apply for a bridging open work permit before your current permit expires and stay in Canada, you may work under maintained status until a decision, under the conditions of the expired permit. The time from invitation to a provincial nomination certificate can span several months. Nomination issuances will continue toward the remaining share of the 6,603 allocation after 5,831 nominations as of Oct. 21, 2026.
