What invitations did Newfoundland and Labrador issue in late October 2026?
This update is part of the Provincial nominee draws hub, with the Permanent residence guide. The province issued 205 invitations across two provincial immigration selection rounds, mostly under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program, with a smaller batch through the Atlantic Immigration Program.
Invited candidates can seek provincial nomination or Atlantic Immigration Program endorsement and then apply to the federal government for permanent residence. The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism runs Expression of Interest based rounds tied to priorities such as health care employment, jobs outside major urban centres, and graduation from a post secondary institution in the province.
The provincial government did not say which Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program streams the latest invitations used, or which sectors and occupations were invited.
How were the 205 invitations split between the two draws?
The Oct. 23 draw issued 120 Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program invitations and no Atlantic Immigration Program invitations. The Oct. 29 draw issued 75 Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program invitations and 10 Atlantic Immigration Program invitations.
Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program candidates accounted for about 95% of invitations across both rounds: 195 of 205 total. The remaining 10 went to Atlantic Immigration Program candidates on Oct. 29.
What should you do if you receive a provincial invitation from Newfoundland and Labrador?
You have up to 60 days to submit a complete application for provincial nomination under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program or endorsement under the Atlantic Immigration Program.
Foreign nationals must meet eligibility requirements, create and submit an Expression of Interest profile, receive an invitation in a selection round, submit the nomination or endorsement application within 60 days, and obtain a certificate upon approval. Selection follows the province’s stated priorities, described on its Expression of Interest Model Prioritization Criteria web page.
After nomination or endorsement, you apply to the federal government for permanent residence. Eligible base Provincial Nominee Program applicants living in Canada may apply for a bridging open work permit without first receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt for their permanent residence application under a temporary federal measure from June 9, 2026. Atlantic Immigration Program endorsed candidates may qualify for an employer specific work permit valid for up to two years.
What do Newfoundland and Labrador's year to date invitation totals mean for applicants?
As of Oct. 29, 2026, the province had conducted 20 provincial immigration draws, with 15 of those issuing invitations under both programs. Those figures show how often the province selects candidates through its Expression of Interest system, not a federal score or a single permit type.
The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism has issued 3,158 provincial immigration invitations in total: 2,750 to Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program candidates and 407 to Atlantic Immigration Program candidates. The late October rounds added 205 invitations to that running total for the year.
