This update is part of the Provincial nominee draws hub, with the Permanent residence guide. Newfoundland and Labrador invited 41 foreign workers on September 25 to advance their applications for Canadian permanent residence. This marks the province's 16th provincial immigration selection round for the year.

Those selected can now submit applications for provincial nomination. Upon receiving a nomination, candidates can then apply to the federal government for permanent residence as provincial nominees.

This latest draw did not include any Atlantic Immigration Program candidates, making it the fourth such draw of 2026. As of September 25, Newfoundland and Labrador's Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism has issued 2,695 provincial immigration invitations this year. Of these, 2,300 went to Provincial Nominee Program candidates and 395 to Atlantic Immigration Program candidates.

For 2026, the province has 2,854 total spaces available across its Provincial Nominee Program and Atlantic Immigration Program. This includes 2,379 allocated to the Provincial Nominee Program and 475 to the Atlantic Immigration Program. Permanent residence wait times, as of September 4, are 13 months for the Base Provincial Nominee Program, 7 months for the Enhanced Provincial Nominee Program, and 26 months for the Atlantic Immigration Program.

In Canada nominees may be eligible to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit after submitting their permanent residence applications. A temporary federal measure, in effect since June 9, 2026, allows base Provincial Nominee Program nominees to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit without first receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt for their permanent residence file.

Foreign workers who were selected must submit a complete nomination application or endorsement application within a 60 day deadline.
