This update is part of the Express Entry draws hub, with the Express Entry guide. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issued 733 invitations to apply through the Express Entry system. This draw specifically targeted candidates with a provincial nomination. It marked the largest invitation round for provincial nominees since late June 2026.

The draw took place on September 28. Invited candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 725. They also needed to have created an Express Entry candidate profile before 1:36 a.m., Universal Coordinated Time, on September 17, 2026.

This latest round contributes to Canada's year to date total of 57 Express Entry draws. Over 2026, IRCC has issued 129,715 invitations to apply across various Express Entry draw types. Candidates with strong ties to Canada, including provincial nominees and those with Canadian work experience, have consistently featured in 2026 selections.

Foreign nationals in Canada who have applied for permanent residence through Express Entry may qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit. If their existing work permit expires before the Bridging Open Work Permit application is finalized, they can benefit from maintained status. This allows them to continue working under the same conditions as their existing permit, provided they remain in Canada. Their family members may also be eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit.
