British Columbia's Provincial Nominee Program issued at least 10 invitations to entrepreneurs on September 22. These invitations allow foreign nationals to apply for provincial nomination through the Entrepreneur Immigration category. Successful nominees can then apply for a work permit and eventually permanent residence by establishing or expanding a business within the province.

The invitations were distributed across both the Base Stream and the Regional Stream of the Entrepreneur Immigration category. Candidates in both streams required a minimum score of 119 to be selected in this round. This marked the province's 10th entrepreneur focused selection round of 2026.

As of September 22, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program has issued at least 114 invitations through its Entrepreneur Immigration category in 2026. The total number of invitations issued by the program in 2026, encompassing Skills Immigration, stands at no fewer than 5,414.

Entrepreneurs applying through the Base Stream must have a minimum personal net worth of $600,000 and commit to a minimum investment of $200,000. They also need a minimum ownership of 33.33 percent in their business. The minimum registration score for this stream is 115 out of 200.

For the Regional Stream, candidates require a minimum personal net worth of $300,000 and a minimum investment of $100,000. This stream mandates a minimum ownership of 51 percent. The minimum registration score for the Regional Stream is 105 out of 200. Regional Stream candidates must also select a participating community and complete an exploratory visit to secure a community referral.

A temporary federal measure, implemented since June 9, 2026, allows nominees to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit sooner. This measure applies to those applying for permanent residence through a base Provincial Nominee Program pathway.

Upon receiving a provincial nomination, candidates can submit their permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. If approved, they receive a work permit support letter to apply for a federal work permit. After meeting the terms of their business performance agreement, they may become eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit once their permanent residence application is submitted.
